Put any name on a mustard seed or grain of rice! The History Behind Rice Artistry- The ancient art of rice scribing can be traced back more than few centuries ago to Asia Minor (Anatolia, Turkey). During wedding ceremonies in eastern Turkey, priests would inscribe the rice with the name of the couple and religious scriptures and bless it. Legend has it that inscribed and blessed rice would protect the couple from evil spirits and spells. It was believed that the rice possess magic power to “bring good luck, prosperity, fertility, health and love.” Today the rice scribing has become a very popular form of art.
