Shriner's Parade

It’s time for the Shriner’s from Yaarab Temple to assemble in Helen for the initiation of new members into their parade tradition. On Saturday at 12PM the Shriner’s will entertain spectators with the fun and frolic of the Shriner’s parade through downtown Helen. Be sure and support this most worthy organization with your patronage and cheers as they perform their very best.

The parade will begin at the Helen Festhalle adjacent to the Helendorf, then cross over the lower bridge turning left onto Chattahoochee Street then turning right onto Main Street and ending at Betty’s Country Store.

The Crowd Favorites: The Fez-Wearing Motor Squad

They are the undisputed kings of the asphalt—a dozen or so gentlemen of “distinguished” age, sporting iconic fezzes and piloting an impossible fleet of miniature machinery. Whether they are squeezed into shrunken pickups, itty-bitty Indy cars, or souped-up go-karts, these fans’ favorites bring a level of cheerful absurdity that defines the parade experience.

Why You Can’t Miss Them:

• The Fleet: A chaotic mix of classic cars, minibikes, motorcycles, and “motorized midgets” that look like they belong in a cartoon.

• The Maneuvers: Watch in awe (and amusement) as they whirl through the street in high-speed figure eights and tight loops, maintaining something that closely resembles a professional formation.

• The Vibe: Pure, unadulterated joy. There is nothing quite as entertaining as seeing grown men in tiny Corvettes looking absolutely ridiculous while having the time of their lives.
